Top Reasons Why Drywall Cracks Appear

Here are the top reasons why Drywall Cracks Appear

Climate Changes

Most of the things that make up your home are organic in nature. The wood framing is most impacted by drastic climate changes. When you experience extensive cycles of low and high humidity levels your wood framing will expand and contract based on the amount of moisture that is absorbed. This expansion and contraction of the framing can create drywall cracks throughout your home.

Foundation Movement

Either from the house settling or experiencing heaving from water intrusion or even tree roots lifting a portion of the home's foundation or the home's slab.

Poor Construction

Unfortunately, homes aren't always constructed with the best practices. Many homes, especially older homes, were put built with less than ideal building guidelines. Not having been built properly can result in your home experiencing movement beyond the foundation moving.

Drywall cracks within your home will happen, knowing the cause of the cracks will help you better assess on the correct repairs needed to remedy them.

Drywall Crack Repair Solutions

If your drywall is cracking, chances are your foundation is shifting, throwing your home off level. Dalinghaus Construction can fix that using,

Push Piers

These are steel piers that are hydraulically driven into the ground below your foundation until they reach soil strong enough to hold your home. Once they reach the right depth, your foundation is lifted back to its original position.

Helical Piers

These piers work the same as push piers, except they are screwed into the soil.

Helical Tie-Backs

These anchors are installed onto homes built on hills to prevent them from sliding. Tie-backs can anchor the home to the hill and strengthen the foundation.

Deep Injection Polyurethane

We can inject polyurethane into voids below your home that is sinking your foundation. Once the polyurethane is injected, it expands and pushes the soil together, filling the void and lifting your home.
