Customer: Michael Voss
San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675
Why did the customer contact Dalinghaus Construction?
Mr. Voss contacted Dalinghaus Construction after having both a geotechnical and structural engineer inspect his beautiful 4000 sq ft San Juan Capistrano home. His home was settling and it showed most of the tell-tale signs we see in the Orange County area. There were cracks visible in both drywall and stucco, along with many doors and windows no longer opening and closing how they used to.
The geotechnical engineer reported expansive soils which had led to a corner of Mr. Voss’ home settling. The engineers recommended the installation of helical piers around the corner that had experienced settling.
What solutions did Dalinghaus Construction provide?
With Mr. Voss already having the engineers perform their inspections, Dalinghaus Construction was able to develop a repair plan and proposal using the engineer’s measurements and recommendations. Our production crew installed five helical piers, along with some concrete removal and replacement at the helical locations. The project was completed in two days, and after completion, there were no signs that our team had been working on the home.
With the installation of the five helical piers, Mr. Voss would no longer need to worry about the expansive soils below his foundation. The weight of the home, in the area where work was performed, was transferred from the soil directly to the helical piers. When the soil expands or contracts in the future it will no longer affect one of Mr. Voss’ most valuable investments.
