Job Description

Performs and logs maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repairs on company owned vehicles, tools and equipment.  Ensures DOT compliance.  Assists Warehouse Staff with loading, unloading, cleaning and organizing the warehouse to maximize efficiency.  Supports the management and mission of the company.

MECHANIC ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all vehicles and equipment assigned to departments and divisions of the company.
  2. Implements and monitors a preventative maintenance program to assure cost-effective maintenance and a scheduled maintenance program to provide maintenance by manufacturer's specifications.
  3. Maintains a complete inventory system by recording all expenditures of each vehicle, maintenance equipment, fuel, repair parts, supplies, etc.
  4. Monitors vehicle and equipment utilization and evaluation of equipment specifications.
  5. Implements and maintains a mechanic training and certification program to provide needed technical skills for mechanics in repair of automobiles and heavy equipment.
  6. Ensures DOT Compliance
  7. Welds; replaces parts; repairs parts; repairs electrical systems; diagnoses vehicles for minor body and fender work; performs tune-ups and engine overhauls; troubleshoots problems when needed.
  8. Examines reports for accuracy on each vehicle and piece of equipment repaired; writes reports on vehicles and equipment repaired.
  9. Keeps maintenance and repair records; performs preventive maintenance on all company vehicles and equipment; orders repair parts.
  10. Checks all repair work performed in the shop for completeness. This includes physical inspections and road tests before the vehicle is turned back to users.
WAREHOUSE STAFF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Safely operate forklift to load and unload material and equipment
  2. Tracking of inventory
  3. Assist warehouse staff to keep warehouse clean and organized
  4. Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security
  5. Regular and punctual attendance.
  6. Ability to legally drive a motor vehicle and be approved as a driver by Company’s Auto Insurance Policy.

None

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, and TALENTS:
  1. Knowledge of diesel engines
  2. Knowledge of hydraulic motors
  3. Knowledge of small tool electrical repair
  4. Knowledge of small gas engine repair
  5. Knowledge of inventory and procurement practices.
  6. Skill in operating personal computer and programs such as BuilderTrend, Inventory Tracking System, and other business software.
  7. Skill in logic and math.
  8. Ability to interpret complex information or instructions into understandable job specifications, measurements, instructions and standards.
  9. Ability to order and manage inventory.
  10. Ability to perform various welding tasks and procedures
  11. Ability to become a certified welder.
  12. Ability to service and maintain company fleet vehicles.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  1. Two (2) years experience as a diesel mechanic or equivalent
  2. Two (2) years experience repairing hydraulic pumps preferred

25-$35 per hour
