Lifting A Sinking Wall in Los Angeles, CA

Table of Contents

Customer: Scott C.

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Project Consultant: Kevin MacDonald

Why did customer contact Dalinghaus Construction?

Scott called us because he had a freestanding column wall for his entry gate to his property in Los Angeles that was failing. It was sinking, and leaning. He had received an evaluation and received a proposal from another local foundation repair company, and was told by them that he was in need of helical anchors for his wall. He contacted us to get a second opinion before he made the decision to move forward with the work.

What solutions did Dalinghaus Construction provide?

Our Project Consultant, Kevin MacDonald met Scott at his property. Kevin didn’t agree with the proposal from the other company, and had a different solution for Scott’s wall problem.  Kevin’s recommendation was to place just 2 Push Piers under the failing wall. This was a much more affordable solution for Scott, and he decided to move forward with the work recommended by Kevin. Our piering crew was able to install 2 hydraulically driven, steel push piers to lift the sinking wall to maximum practical recovery. From there, the pier system was locked in place, and they were able to backfill and compact the area. A few months later, Scott was concerned that there may be movement of the wall. We immediately sent Kevin back out to the property. He was able to perform a series of elevation readings, and determine there was zero movement. Scott was pleased to know we were just a quick phone call away, and were able to provide him peace of mind that everything was secure and stabilized.
