Our first visit to this project in Rancho Palos Verdes was a fun one. The entire road leading up to this community had been washed away in recent landslides and we had to work on our 4-wheel driving skills to actually get there. Once there we saw some pretty crazy damage taking place in multiple areas of the property.
The home had literally split in half, with one half sinking and moving laterally towards the slope that the home sits on. We also saw massive cracks and fissures in the grass and soil throughout the entire property.
While there we watched the crew install several vertical helical piles down to competent, load-bearing strata or bedrock and in this case that was about 30 feet below the soil's surface!
