Stabilizing A Slab Foundation With Helical Piers In San Diego

Customer: Kathi Y.

Location: San Diego, CA

Project Consultant: Phil Laney

Project Manager: Alvin Rodriguez

Why did the customer contact Dalinghaus Construction?

Kathi met our Project Consultant, Phil Laney, when he was completing a foundation inspection for her neighbor in San Diego. They spent some time chatting about her foundation concerns in front of her home, and Kathi scheduled a time to have Phil come back and do a full inspection of her home.

What solutions did Dalinghaus Construction provide?

Phil met Kathi at the home and performed a full foundation inspection. He took elevation readings throughout the home, and was able to construct a repair plan to stabilize her sinking foundation. The repair plan consisted of placing a total of 14 Helical Piers, and 10 areas of concrete removal and replacement at the pier locations. In addition, we would perform Polyurethane Soil Stabilization in 2 areas on her back patio where the columns of her patio cover were sinking.

The Project Foreman for this project was Alvin Rodriguez. Alvin and his crew started by breaking out all of the concrete at the 10 pier locations. The Helical Piles were installed with a hydraulic-powered, rotary-torque drive unit on this San Diego foundation repair project. They excavated to the bottom of the foundation. From there, they cleaned and prepared the footing. Next, they installed and retrofitted the foundation bracket system. Then, the crew locked the system in place. They backfilled and compacted the previously excavated soils. Finally, they replaced the concrete at the 10 pier locations. Kathi was so pleased with her work, she was nice enough to refer Dalinghaus Construction to a friend. Phil met with them just last week! We are looking forward to working with them in the near future!
