Why did the customer contact Dalinghaus Construction?
Yumi reached out to us because he was having concerns with the foundation of his Long Beach home. The raised foundation was showing some serious signs of damage. The southeast corner of the home was settling big time, and had large horizontal cracks on the exterior of the house. He also had 6 windows in the home that were bowed, and 1 door that wouldn’t even close!
What solutions did Dalinghaus Construction provide?
Our Project Consultant, Mark Cook, came out to the home for a complete foundation inspection. With a ziplevel altimeter, he completed an elevation reading of the foundation. Mark’s data showed that half of the home was sinking. The corner worst affected was down 2.5 inches! Mark constructed a repair plan for Jared that consisted of placing 16 push piers around half of the home, 90 square feet of concrete removal and replacement, and replacing 2 failing wood posts in the crawlspace. Together with the help of the engineers at Helfrich and Associates, we worked on moving forward with the project.
Project Specialist, Jonathan McConnell, repair of Yumi’s home. The project took 6 days to complete. The crew started by excavating some of the pier locations. Once the sites that weren’t covered by concrete were completed, the crew began to saw cut and broke out the concrete in the other pier locations. The footings were prepped, and the push piers brackets were installed. Pipe was pushed until they reached load bearing strata. Once piers were in place, they were cut, capped, and each pier location was backfilled. In the area where concrete was removed, the crew replaced the areas with new concrete.
