Carbon Fiber Staple Foundation Repair

Table of Contents

Cracks ripping through your slab on grade foundation are serious business.

Maybe you found cracks while you were trying to take advantage of the white-hot home market by renovating and selling your home.

You tore up the old carpet or linoleum to find a significant concrete gash zipping through your living room.

These cracks jeopardize your home as a means of equity and jeopardize the structure itself.

One of the steps for slab on grade foundation repair is often carbon fiber staple implementation. We’ve discussed the nuance of helical pierpush pier, and maximum practical recovery but have yet to cover the concrete cosmetic surgery that is carbon fiber staple repair.

Staples serve multifarious purposes from holding paper together to acting as stitches after surgery.

Slab on grade foundation repair is a kind of surgery, with the carbon fiber staples holding the foundation together in place and preventing further separation and crack development.

The truth is we’re not worried about spider or hairline cracks. The basic rule of thumb is if you can fit a coin into the slot then the crack should be considered a serious issue.

So, how exactly do you repair slab cracks via carbon fiber staples? Well, I’m glad you asked –

Here are the 3 steps to crack repair with carbon fiber crack repair:

Step 1 –

Crack Chase. We zip a grinder through the cracks, making them slightly deeper and wider. While this may seem counterintuitive, it is important to clean out the crevice and open it up just enough for the epoxy to correctly adhere and set to the crack/staple.

Step 2 –

The staples will be implemented in an angled fashion, not straight across, to ensure the crack is held together via multiple divergences. Holes are drilled into the concrete slab for the ends of the staples and a groove is ground down so that the staples fit flush with the slab.

Step 3 –

When the staple is inserted, we epoxy the crack, the staples, and then scrape everything flush. The slab can then dry, and the new flooring can be implemented.

The wonderful thing is that the carbon fiber staples are tremendously strong.

The strength of the carbon fiber staples absorbs the pressure that tries to pull the floor apart, recirculating it through the staple keeping the floor in place.

Carbon Fiber Staple repair costs $60 to $75 per linear foot.
