OFFSET CRACKING

In our September 12th Tip Of The Day, Brian explains that offset cracking is the most typical type of cracking seen in our industry.

WHAT IS OFFSET CRACKING?

Offset cracks are typically a sign of settlement seen mostly in our industry. This type of cracking can cause those unsightly uneven walkways and contribute to dangerous tripping hazards. A difference in height on either side of a crack is considered offset cracking. In most cases, this issue is due to an uneven seat for the slab, such as; invasion pressure from tree roots, poorly compacted subsoils, repeated expansion and contraction in the rebar, or pervious concrete slabs that have not been removed.
