9 Common Foundation Repair Production Questions

So, your foundation repair proposal has been signedsealed, and delivered and the permits are in– what’s next? We suggest you pop a bottle of Dom Perignon, light up a Padron, and kick your feet up. Or, for you teetotalers, buy a nice boba tea.

Point is, celebrate – the end of the road is near. But, like every invested homeowner, you have questions. The truth is: your home is about to undergo some major surgery.

Here is a list of 9 common questions posed to our production team before we begin your final foundation repair project.

1. Is this the soonest you can schedule me?   

The answer is always unequivocally yes.

You were scheduled for the first availability. Why? Because we have no desire or incentive to push off your foundation repair project.

We run over 300 projects a year, the sooner we finish your project, then we’re off to the next one. There is no preferential treatment, no project juggling – but if something opens up sooner, we promise to reach out ASAP.     

2. Do I need to be home during the installation?     

No, you do not need to be present for the installation – as long as we have full, unmitigated access to the work area.

We do request, however, that you meet our nice foreman on the first day so that they can introduce themselves, shoot the shale, and walk the areas of concern as per your signed proposal. This walk-around helps keep the lines of communication open, full throttle, with your foreman throughout the entirety of the installation process.

We also ask that you are onsite for the last day for the final walkthrough. Throughout the project, you can always check your progress on your Buildertrend account for photosdaily logsweather, and crew arrival times.  

3. When is my first payment due?

There is a mobilization fee due upon arrival and our accountant will email you an invoice prior.  

4. Is there anything I need to do before the Dalinghaus crew arrives?

Yes, we ask that you clear the area 10-feet away from the installation location.

Always check your contract. There may be specific prerequisites we ask of you to fulfill before our team’s arrival – the removal of AC Units, re-routing plumbing, or if you chose to DIY your concrete removal.

5. When will your crew arrive?

Our crews typically arrive by 7:30 am Tuesday through Friday. On Mondays, there is a mandatory safety meeting which may delay their arrival, pushing it back to 8 or 9 am. They always call en route with their ETA.    

6. Do I need to call 811 for a Dig Alert?

No. We call Dig Alert 4-7 days prior to our arrival. The Public Utility Representatives do not typically come directly to your door unless they need to view a specific area they cannot access easily.

They look for areas that directly conflict with our digging/installation areas and utilize flags and chalk-based paint to delineate non-safe-dig-zones. The vast majority of the time, the utility company already knows where these zones are and simply emails a NO CONFLICT notice.     

7. Is there going to be a lot of noise?

Yes. A typical pier installation project will have quite of bit of noise during the excavation – jackhammers, hydraulic pumps, and so on.

So, if you work from home or your kids have Zoom classes, you may want to spend this time somewhere else a little more peaceful. Our foremen have a pretty good idea of the expected noise level on a day-to-day basis, so please feel free to ask them.

8. Will I get a daily report from the foreman?

Yes, our foremen keep a daily log, entering the day’s progress directly into Buildertrend.

You will be given access to your own personal Buildertrend dashboard where you can view daily installation pictures and read about the installation progress. Buildertrend is user-friendly where you can also access your billing information and pay for invoices.

9. Are the Dalinghaus Installers Certified?

Yes. All of our foremen are Certified Professional Resistance Steel Pier Installers. In addition, they have OSHA 30 training and follow the proper PPE COVID 19 requirementsYou are in good hands!
