What to know about hydrophobic polyurethane foam injection, and when it's the right call.

The injection targets the voids and loose soil that water has carved out behind the wall. Small ports are drilled through the wall face or driven into the soil behind it, mapped to where the evaluation found voids and erosion paths. The polyurethane resin is injected as a liquid, and contact with the water and moisture in the soil triggers the reaction: the material expands, chases the water through the same paths the erosion followed, and cures into a rigid, watertight mass. That sequence is the elegant part, because the resin naturally travels to exactly the places water was moving, filling the voids and plugging the leaks in one operation. The cured foam densifies the surrounding soil, restores the backing the wall needs against wave loads, and stops the outbound soil loss, while working weep holes and drainage continue to relieve water pressure the way the wall's designers intended.
