A crack is a network of connected space running the full thickness of the concrete, and surface patches fail because they only cap it. Injection fills it. The crew surface seals the crack line and sets injection ports along it, then pumps the chosen material through the ports under controlled pressure, starting low and working along the crack as material appears at the next port, proof the fill is complete at each stage. Epoxy flows into a dry crack as a liquid adhesive and cures into a rigid bond, effectively welding the faces together so load transfers across the crack again. Polyurethane meets water inside a wet crack and reacts with it, expanding into foam that follows every branch and void the water occupied, then cures into a flexible seal that tolerates the slight seasonal movement our clay soils impose. Ports come off, the surface seal is dressed, and the crack is filled solid where it lives.
